MEI Launches First Payment Interface to Accept Cash, Debit, and Credit

June 28, 2005

Las Vegas, April 18, 2005 – MEI, the world's leading developer of electronic payment systems, launched the MEI Series 2000 Combo Acceptor at KioskCom 2005 (April 18 - 20, 2005, Las Vegas, Booth #502). The unit features card swipe technology and an MEI bill acceptor, and accepts all major forms of payment including cash, debit, and credit cards.

The MEI Series 2000 Combo Acceptor is designed for kiosks, self-checkouts, and other retail self-service applications where space is at a premium. The 3" x 3" customer interface is the same size as the Series 2000 bill acceptor interface, enabling retailers to retrofit it into applications that utilize a Series 2000.

"Retailers need to offer their customers the ability to quickly and reliably pay for purchases however they like," said Andrew Osborne, global marketing manager for MEI's retail division. "The MEI Series 2000 Combo Acceptor helps retailers maximize sales while minimizing hardware components and vendors."

About the MEI Series 2000 Combo Acceptor
The MEI Series 2000 Combo Acceptor features a Series 2000 bill acceptor and a debris-resistant, swipe-style credit card reader. Credit card transactions are integrated through the kiosk for delivery to the vendor's backend system.

MEI's Series 2000 bill acceptors use advanced optical scanning technology to identify and validate legitimate bills in virtually any condition. They exceed industry standards for the acceptance of wet, damaged, and crinkled bills; accept coupons; and meet the MEI Gold Standard for water resistance with full fluid protection and jam resistance, preventing shorted boards.
