Mastercard recently partnered with Bakkt, a digital asset platform, to help banks, merchants and fintechs deliver cryptocurrency solutions. The companies will offer crypto-as-service through the Mastercard network and Bakkt's digital asset platform, according to a press release.
Mastercard customers can buy, sell and hold digital assets through wallets on the Bakkt platform, as well as access crypto debit and credit cards. Customers will also be able to earn cryptocurrency as rewards on Mastercard's loyalty solutions.
"Mastercard is committed to offering a wide range of payment solutions that deliver more choice, value and impact every day," Sherri Haymond, executive vice president, Digital Partnerships at Mastercard, said in the release. "Together with Bakkt and grounded by our principled approach to innovation, we'll not only empower our partners to offer a dynamic mix of digital assets options, but also deliver differentiated and relevant consumer experiences."
