MasterCard is co-brand for Australian in-store bank

MasterCard was named a co-branding partner for a new in-store banking service in Austrialia.

Woolworths Ezy Banking, backed by Commonwealth Bank of Australia, allows customers to bank while they shop and to perform a variety of transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and account balances at in-store kiosks or at the store check-out. They can also access services via telephone and the Internet.

Customers will have a chance to earn awards by using their MasterCard brand credit and Maestro/Cirrus debit cards in Woolworths.

The Woolworths/Commonwealth Bank co-brand is the first in a new wave of co-brands that would radically alter Australian payment habits, said John Verco, MasterCard International General Manager for Australia and New Zealand.
