KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Malayan Banking Bhd has announced plans to install cash- and check-deposit self-service terminals at its e-Kawanku banking centers as a way to eliminate long teller lines and streamline services.
The bank will spend about RM10 million ($2.6 million) on the project, and has signed agreements with three vendors -- CL Computers BHD, Opensys Sdn Bhd, and Interdeals Automation Bhd -- to supply the machines.
Johar Che Mat, Malayan Banking executive vice president, said the new machines would be established as a complement to existing ATM machines.
"These latest (machines) give protection as well as fast transaction processing, are user friendly, and allow for quicker backroom processing that will result in higher branch productivity and overall cost savings, Che Mat told Malaysia's The Star newspaper.
