A senior official for the India's Maharashtra State postal circle has announced plans to install 75 ATMs at facilities throughout the region by month-end.

According to India's NDTV, the machines will be distributed as follows: 17 in the Mumbai region; 17 in Aurangabad; 14 in Goa; 16 in Nagpur; and 11 in Pune. So far, 11 of the ATMs have been installed.

"The ATM facilities would be launched shortly and the work of processing postal ATM cards is underway to allow e-account holders to withdraw money from any postal ATM, provided they have enough savings," the official said.

India Post has installed 1,000 ATM centers at post offices nationwide, NDTV said. Postal facility ATMs are networked so that postal banking customers from any part of the country may use any ATM in the network to withdraw or deposit funds.

India Post, which is operated by the government of India, operates the most widely distributed postal system in the world. Because it reaches some of the nation's most remote areas, it is also a provider of small-scale savings bank services.
