The newly-formed European arm of the ATM Industry Association has gained a good deal of clout with the addition of LINK Interchange Network to its leadership board.

LONDON - The newly-formed European arm of the ATM Industry Association has gained a good deal of clout with the support of one of the United Kingdom's leading ATM networks.

John Hardy, chief executive of LINK Interchange Network Ltd., a British ATM network offering access to more than 25,000 UK ATMs, has agreed to have his organization represented on the trade group's leadership board. The company has connections to more than 30 financial institutions and processes more than 40 million ATM transactions monthly.

Hardy will be the keynote speaker at ATMIA Europe'sinaugural trade show in London, Sept. 18-19, 2001. The show, "Optimizing ATMs in Britain and Europe", will include representatives from all facets of the ATM industry in Europe.

"We are pleased to be associated with ATMIA," said Hardy, whose firm joins five others already committed to the board of the trade organization, which was formed in September 2000.

Mike Lee, executive director of ATMIA Europe, said having LINK on board will help add credibility and stimulate activity in the organization.

"LINK's expertise, guidance and clout on our board will be a massive boost as we become increasingly active in the UK market," said Lee, who has obtained board commitments from Hanco ATM Systems, Cerplex, ADT Fire and Security (part of the worldwide Tyco group), Moneybox and Cashtec Services.

Eventually, Lee expects to assemble 15 board members, representing the full spectrum of companies and industries operating in the ATM sector, including manufacturers, deployers and service-providers. The goals of the board will be to share information, respond to industry concerns, shape policy and perform lobbying.

ATMIA Europe recently launched its web site, www.atmiaeurope.com, which includes an interactive page inviting visitors to take part in competitions, interviews and human interest news.
