LINK appoints regulatory expert

LONDON -- LINK,the UK's national cash machine network, has appointed Martyn Gould as card scheme manager responsible for LINK's Card Scheme, which governs the operation and rules of the network.

According to a LINK news release, his specific responsibilities will include identifying and evaluating threats and opportunities regarding potential market developments affecting the LINK Card Scheme, including commercial, legal and regulatory matters. In addition, he will assist in the development and maintenance of Scheme governance at LINK and will be a member of compliance and recruitment liaison bodies.

Gould, 52, comes to LINK from Mondex UK Ltd, where he established and managed the Mondex Scheme in the UK including member relations, development of UK operating rules and external liaison with regard to regulatory matters.

He has 34 years of financial services experience, beginning his career with NatWest, where he gained expertise in the card products area. He was also seconded to APACS, the Association for Payment Clearing Services, where he worked on the UK plastic fraud prevention communication program.
