LG Electronics has announced plans to launch its mobile wallet service in the U.S. by July 1, according to media reports from South Korea, the only country where the technology is available currently.
LG Pay uses wireless magnetic communication technology similar to the magnetic secure transmission employed by Samsung Pay. The technology lets users make mobile payments at point-of-sale terminals that lack contactless functionality.
LG has said that it will include the mobile wallet with its G7 and V40 premium phones this year and make it available in mid-price devices next year.
