Level Four Software appoints veteran to board

July 4, 2002

LONDON -- Level Four Software, a provider of ATM test and development software, has appointed Nigel Walsh to its board of directors, in the role of executive chairman. Walsh will help advance the growth plans of Level Four, targeting UK and European banks wishing to add new functionality to their existing ATM networks.

Walsh was one of the founders and an executive director of The Software Partnership, a UK financial software company which was sold in a private multi-million deal to Milwaukee-based Deluxe Data Systems, which was later acquired by eFunds. After the sale of The Software Partnership, Walsh has taken on a number of chairmanships and non-executive board positions with emerging software companies serving the finance sector.

In a news release, Walsh said that Level Four has "the right products at the right time to grow a substantial business in the ATM and POS marketplace," including the ATM Channel Development Suite, which allows financial institutions to develop, test and deploy new ATM applications such as mobile phone top-up and personalized advertising coupons. Another Level Four product, EMV FastTrack, enables banks to test software before the deployment of ATMs with smart card readers, ensuring a smooth transition.

Calling Walsh "a well known character in the marketplace," Level Four Chief Executive Officer Martin Macmillan, said, "He's been out there and done it himself, so he brings a wealth of industry experience to Level Four."
