Level Four ATM-testing project with Barclay's gets tapped for innovative award

February 11, 2009

DUNFERMLINE, Scotland — ATM-software provider Level Four and Ascert, which provides test-automation tools, have been tapped by Finextra to showcase the end-to-end ATM testing solution the two deployed at Barclays during Finextra's first "Innovation Showcase."

According to a news release, Finextra, a news and information source covering financial technology, is highlighting innovative financial-technology developments that have occurred over the last 12 months. Finextra chose the Barclay's project to feature as part of its Showcase's Retail Channel Delivery and Management category.

"Barclays has deployed an end-to-end automated testing solution from Level Four and Ascert to support the biggest ATM refresh project by a U.K. bank in over a decade," Finextra wrote in a recent article about the Innovation Showcase. "The bank is moving away from proprietary ATM software and migrating more than 3,000 ATMs to an open-standards environment, implementing Windows and packaged software such as BASE24 and ProCash."
Elton Cane, strategy director at Finextra, said the project's "newness, uniqueness and impact" pushed it ahead of the competition.
"This kind of behind-the-scenes work, as well as being innovative in its scale and approach, will make it much easier for the bank to deliver new services via the ATM channel and be seen as innovative by its customers," Cane said.
