The ATM Industry Association has published a new briefing paper on cybercrime in the ATM industry, according to a press release from the trade group.
"ATM Cyber Security Briefing Paper," describes existing types of cyberattack and security best practices to combat them.
"Today, sophisticated criminals have shifted their attention towards the manipulation of ATM systems to seek their next big payouts," ATMIA CEO Mike Lee said in the release. "This paper will help all our members to understand the unfolding crime context of our industry."
ATM security consultant Douglas Russell compiled the brief to bring ATMIA members up to date on current methods of attack at the cyber and network level.
In addition to publication of the briefing, ATMIA has founded an ATM Cyber Security Alliance that will join forces with other industry associations and law enforcement agencies in order to combat international cybercrime, the press release said.
The ATM Industry Association, founded in 1997, is a global non-profit trade association with over 10,500 members in 65 countries. The membership base covers the full range of this worldwide industry comprising over 2.2 million installed ATMs.
