September 6, 2004

Kansas City Star: Authorities said they believe a Sept. 3 ATM robbery may be linked to two earlier attempted thefts in south Kansas City. Police said two suspects approached a man who had pulled into an ATM lane at about 12:15 a.m. They displayed a gun, demanded $1,000 and left without incident. In the earlier incidents, a man with a gun approached a car at about 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 2 after it pulled up to an ATM, but the intended victim managed to drive off before the suspect did anything. A third victim was approached about 11:30 p.m. at a nearby ATM on Sept. 2. He told police that two suspects in a vehicle pulled up, displayed a handgun and demanded money. (Subscription required)
