JCB card access comes to ATMs, POS terminals across India

May 9, 2017

The National Payments Corp. of India and JCB International Co. Ltd., the international operations subsidiary of JCB Co. Ltd., have implemented acceptance of JCB payment cards at ATMs and POS terminals across India.

The strategic partnership will increase JCB acceptance to nearly 100 percent in the coming few years, a press release said.

This development allows JCB to serve increasing numbers of tourists and business professionals visiting India with payment options at ATMs and POS terminals. JCB boasts a base of 100 million cardholders spanning 23 countries and territories, according to the release.

The new partnership also covers issuance of cobranded RuPay-JCB International cards issued by NPCI member banks in India. The card works as a RuPay card inside India and as a JCB card outside the country.

"NPCI-JCB collaboration is one of the most valued alliances for our homegrown card network, RuPay," NPCI Managing Director and CEO A.P. Hota said in the release. We are pleased to provide access to about 225,000 ATMs and over 2 million POS terminals in India through our National Financial Switch and RuPay network. With such initiatives, both the companies will continue to provide high value service to our esteemed customers."
