Japan Today: A 64-year-old man sued two banks on Aug. 19 for allegedly failing to prevent cash withdrawals from his accounts by someone using fraudulent ATM cards. Tomio Suzuki is seeking a total of 32 million yen (U.S. $292,462) in refunds from Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. Over several days in March, someone made 139 transactions, withdrawing between 10,000 and 1 million yen (U.S. $91 and $9,138) each time, from ATMs at bank branches and convenience stores.
