Ireland is enforcing the Access to Cash bill, which requires ATMs be located within 6.2 miles of most homes and businesses. The bill was passed last May and Minister for Finance Simon Harris is expected to sign the order, according to a report by RTE.
The reason it has taken a while for the act to be enforced is the Central Bank asked for information about all ATMs and cash services in Ireland.
With the act, rural Irish communities will have better access to cash, especially in light of branch closures.
