Gen Z would rather discuss topics such as politics and sex rather than their finances, according to a study from Intuit, a financial technology platform provider. In fact, most would rather talk to their children about sex than discuss their own finances, according to a press release on the study's findings.

Additional findings include:

  • 66% know how to make a budget but haven't done it.
  • 64% don't know how to invest.
  • 63% don't know how to use financial knowledge.
  • 48% have purchased cryptocurrency.
  • 66% are unsure they will ever have enough money to retire.
  • 66% are only interested in finances as a way to support current interests.

"The economic shocks of the last few years have transformed how Gen Z views success, and this survey revealed that prosperity means something different to everyone, particularly Zoomers," Brittney Castro, consumer financial advocate, Intuit, said in the release. "At Intuit, we believe that everyone should have the ability to prosper — however they define that for themselves. Intuit is delivering innovative and personalized financial solutions through TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks and Mailchimp that our customers need to make more money, save time, and build confidence."
