ING Group will no longer provide a rebate for international ATM fees for its Orange Everyday account holders starting Aug. 1.

The bank will continue to provide rebates for domestic ATM operator fees, as well as the first five ING domestic and international ATM withdrawal fees, according to a report by 7 News.com.au.

After users claim the five eligible rebates, all withdrawals will come with a $5 fee, plus any operator fees.

"Some ATM operators will charge fees in relation to transactions and enquiries carried out at their ATMs," the bank stated in its Orange Everyday Banking Benefits Schedule. "These fees apply to your account in addition to the ING International ATM withdrawal fee, even if ING does not charge a fee for that transaction or enquiry."

Users expressed frustration on Twitter about the change, with some expressing the rebates were the main reason they got an ING account in the first place.

Other banks have worked to remove ATM fees. For example, earlier April 2023, Westpac Group, a financial services company based in Australia, announced it was partnering with Armaguard to deliver almost 7,000 fee-free ATMs to multiple locations.
