Indiana lawmakers proposed House Bill 1116 to combat bitcoin ATM fraud. If passed, this bill would put transaction limits, fee caps and information on fraud techniques on the machine, according to a report by WFYI.

The bill would cap fees to 3% and set a daily limit of $1,000. Bill author Rep. Wendy McNamara said this bill doesn't aim to restrict crypto, but instead to prevent fraud.

"It will establish strong guardrails that are similar to other financial services and then protect our most vulnerable," McNamara said during a House Financial Institutions Committee.

Representatives from the crypto ATM industry said these fee caps will put them out of business.

"The 3% fee cap is not necessarily a regulation for us, it's actually more of an eviction notice," Michael Geiselhart, government relations manager for Bitcoin Depot said in the meeting.
