Indian woman attacks ATM to pay education fees for nephew

A woman in Jabalpur India has been arrested after allegedly trying to break into an ATM with a rod to pay education fees for her nephew. The attempt to open the ATM was unsuccessful, according to a report by Deccan Herald.

Police traced the woman through CCTV footage.

"She told police that she lived in Mathura with her husband. She had come to her sister's house in Sanjeevani Nagar, where she learnt that her nephew, a class 11 student, risked expulsion from school due to non-payment of fees. She then took him along to the ATM to attempt the theft," the police told the news outlet.

She is in custody and her nephew is in a correctional home, according to the news report.
