Indian region gets 1st drive-up ATM

HYDERABAD, India - The State Bank ofIndia (SBI)is introducing the region's first drive-up ATM at the bank's main branch in Koti, according to a Times of India report.

"The practice is common in the West and very convenient for busy customers," said S K Bhattacharya,SBI's chief general manager Hyderabad.

A guard will be stationed 24 hours at the ATM, which will be introduced on Jan. 16.

If successful, SBI plans to introduce drive-up ATMs at other branches where there is enough space.
