Multiple Indian banks are planning a big ATM rollout, with plans to install 17,350 ATMs within six months. Bank of India, Union Bank of India, India Bank and Canara Bank will install 8,000 ATMs in total, according to a report by Finextra.
Of these machines, 75% will have cash recycling capabilities. One reason behind this move is the collapse of ATM service provider AGS, which supplied more than 40,000 machines in the country.
With this collapse, many banks need to replace older ATMs with more advanced features, according to the report.
