Residents of Vaishali, a district in Bihar, India, had what may have been a dream come true for many people this week when they discovered an India One ATM in their village was dispensing double cash amounts.

According to an article in timesnownews.com, once word spread of the incident, people came and crowded around the ATM kiosk attempting to withdraw cash. As the crowd grew, the local television station arrived to cover the event, and then arguments and fights began to break out within the crowd.  A bystander contacted a representative from India One ATM who immediately contacted the police. Once on the scene, the police shut down the kiosk and dispersed the crowd.

Babool Kumar, the cash loader of India One ATM, said that a crowd of approximately 100 people were gathered outside the kiosk when he arrived to investigate the incident.

Ved Prakash Singh, the company's engineer, said that the machine's data has been sent to the company's office in Mumbai, and once reviewed, the company will begin the process of recovering the money.

The cause of the machine's malfunction is still under investigation, but Singh said that if bank notes are not kept in the proper slots within the machine the ATM can release more money.
