March 6, 2002

TROY, N.Y.-- Sampath Bank in Colombo, Sri Lanka has licensed TPII software from IFS International to act as the front end processor for the new ATM network being installed at the bank.

Created in 1987, Sampath Bank is considered to be one of the most technically advanced public banks in the country. Paul Constable, regional director of IFS International, said, "IFS is pleased to be able to assist Sampath Bank in developing its vision as being a technology bank of the future. Sampath Bank represents a significant addition to the IFS customer base not only as the first in Southern Asia, but also because the bank is a market leader in the implementation of systems to meet the needs of its customers and staff."

DMS Electronics Ltd, IFS International's appointed distributor for the
region, is the prime contractor for the contract and has also provided
much of the bank's new hardware, including the Unix servers for the system. TPII will run on Compaq Proliant 7000/SCO Unix hardware with ATMs supplied by IBM.

The TPII implementation will take place in multiple phases, with the
first phase including TPII modules which have been tested for Year
2000 readiness and later phases consolidating interfaces with
MasterCard International and providing support for the POS network which the bank is implementing.

In November 1997, Sampath Bank become the first bank in Sri Lanka and the South Asia region to issue debit cards, at which time they simultaneously established connectivity to MasterCard's Maestro and Cirrus networks. Sampath Bank has been named "Best Managed Bank" in Sri Lanka by Asia Money Magazine three times and has also won awards for its innovations from Asian Banking Digest.
