IDBI Bank Ltd., one of India's public sector banks, today announced the launch of its new prepaid travel card. The Global Currency Card will be issued on the MasterCard platform and will be available in eight currencies, including U.S. dollars, euros, pounds, Singapore, Australian and Canadian Dollars, and Japanese yen and UAE dirham.
The GCC will be able to access more than 1 million MasterCard / Maestro/ Cirrus ATMs for cash withdrawal and balance inquiry. The card can also be used for purchases at more than 32.9 million locations across 210 countries, according to a press release.
"The launch of the IDBI Bank Global Currency Card will provide our customers the ease and convenience of carrying one solution for all their payment needs while travelling abroad instead of carrying a traveler's check/ credit card. GCC will further strengthen the existing association with MasterCard and will help in offering world-class payment services," said R.K. Bansal, executive director of IDBI Bank Ltd.
