Idaho CU expands mobile banking functionality with Co-op API

October 21, 2016

Idaho Central Credit Union, a Chubbuck, Idaho-based FI with more than $2.7 billion in assets, has added CardNav by Co-op to its mobile banking application, giving members a way to control credit and debit card use and protect themselves from fraud.

According to a press release, the app lets members specify when, where and how their cards are used. It also offers near real-time alerts and push notifications, and allows the user to turn cards off or on with a single touch.

Originally released as a stand-alone app, CardNav is now available as an API, which allows credit unions to integrate its functionality into their own mobile apps.

Idaho Central is offering the feature within its existing mobile banking service as "ICCU CardControl." About 1,100 ICCU members have downloaded CardControl to date, the release said.

"We want everything we roll out to look and feel like it is coming from ICCU," said said Kent Oram, ICCU president and CEO. "With the CardNav API, we are able to present consistent branding for ICCU, a one-stop feel for all member mobile banking needs, and provide members with an advanced solution while at the same time avoiding 'app overload.'"

As with other apps in the Co-op API suite, CardNav offers seamless backend integration for simple management and connectivity to existing programs, the release said. Credit unions have the option to deploy only those parts of the suite that meet their members' needs.
