UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Safewww Inc., a provider of identity protection and authentication systems, has entered a distribution deal with Spanish technology provider Inorme S.L. to offer Safewww's Internet security products to Inorme customers.
Barcelona-based Caixa Terrassa will be the first bank in Spain to implement Safewww's IDshield to protect its customers from identity theft and online fraud. The bank will
initially distribute the solution to its business clients, and then to the bank's estimated 25,000 account holders that will bank from home via the Internet. Based on its success with home and business users, Caixa Terrassa plans to integrate IDshield into its ATMs and bank branch PCs.Caixa Terrassa has more than 1,000 employees at 200 branches serving 300,000 clients. The bank has 1,800 business clients, 16,000 home users and 23,000 telephone banking clients that conducted 1.5 million transactions in 2000.
"Our customers are our most valuable assets, and they trust us to provide them with the best services available," said Joan Davi Ferrer, projects manager of Caixa Terrassa. "By offering simple and secure online banking, we are able to build the trust that is essential in order for our online banking program to grow."
After Caixa Terrassa researched a number of authentication solutions, Inorme made the bank aware of IDshield. The bank found Safewww's system "the simplest-to-use and most cost-effective solution that can help us increase customer confidence and decrease transactional fraud," Ferrer said.
