IASC meeting to focus on EBT

February 26, 2002

HERNDON, Va.-- The Independent ATM Services Council (IASC) will focus on opportunities and challenges associated with Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) programs at the group's March 24 meeting in San Diego, IASC chairman Steven M. Wright announced.

The IASC meeting, part of the Electronic Funds Transfer Association's semi-annual Summit series at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in Coronado, Calif., will feature a keynote presentation by John P. Pfeuffer, vice president of Citicorp Services, Inc., a leading provider of debit card systems and operator of more than 25 EBT systems across the country.

"EBT presents unique challenges to the independent, or off-premise, ATM industry," said Wright, "but it also presents opportunities, which the Council looks forward to exploring at the San Diego meeting."

The council also will define its legislative agenda for 1999, and begin the process of electing new officers, said Wright, executive vice president and COO of Portland, Ore.-based Card Capture Services.

The IASC is a trade group within the Electronic Funds Transfer Association. The mission of IASC, formerly known as the National Independent ATM Services Association, is to promote the growth of the independent ATM industry through technology education, policy analysis and best practices.

The EFTA Summit meetings are held each March and September. The purpose is to provide an intense one-day update on key technology, policy or business changes affecting the electronic commerce industry. The meetings are aimed at senior-level executives unable to make the time commitment for a longer conference. The meetings are open to the public.
