Grupo Coppel expands financial services to US

January 26, 2023

Grupo Coppel, the largest department store operator in Mexico and a banking network, will expand its financial services into the U.S. with its Coppel Access mobile wallet. With the wallet, customers can open an account with a Mexican or U.S. ID, according to a press release.

Customers can use the digital or physical debit card in the mobile wallet to make purchases. The account is FDIC insured and can also provide remittances to Mexico, according to the release.

"By offering FDIC-insured accounts for sending international remittances, the Coppel Access app continues Grupo Coppel's 80-year-old mission of improving the lives of its customers," Adrian Jaimes, CEO of Appriza Pay, a U.S.-based affiliate of the Coppel Group, said in the release.

"For a decade, Mexicans living in the United States have relied on Coppel to pay their remittances. Today, they can rely on Coppel for all their financial needs in the United States," Carlos Lopez Moctezuma, director of financial services for Grupo Coppel, said in the release.

The app is available for Apple and Android through the App Store and Google Play.
