HANOVER, Germany -- FIDUCIA AG, Germany's largest computing center for credit cooperatives, is equipping ATMs in the Kassel region with NCR Corporation's (NYSE: NCR) APTRA Top Client Server (TCS) software, replacing proprietary applications.
According to a news release, the project, encompassing a total value of about $4.4 million, is scheduled to be completed in late 2003.
In the project's initial phase, some 600 ATMs at FIDUCIA partner banks in the Kassel region will be switched over to the new software.
FIDUCIA AG is replacing the OS/2 operating system used in its ATMs, statement printers and service terminals, and wanted to switch to a local area network (LAN) based on TCP/IP protocols. With the APTRA application, all of the self-service systems of FIDUCIA's parnter banks will use the same IT infrastructure as the workstations. The application also will run on self-service systems from multiple vendors, according to the release.
