October 26, 2004

CAPE TOWN, South Africa and BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Global ATM Security Alliance (GASA) has published its international best practices for ATM transactional security, which feature guidelines for information security and data integrity for ATM networks.

"As crime becomes increasingly sophisticated and electronic in nature, so the protection of ATM data, information and messages escalates in importance," said Mike Lee, CEO of the ATM Industry Association and founder of GASA. "I would like to thank highly responsible networks like (the UK's) Link Interchange Network who are taking the lead in developing information network security policies."

The Best Practice Manual for ATM Transactional Security is the latest GASA publication focused on cyber security system. Others address general cyber security, security for Windows-based ATMs and the elements of a continuous cyber security process.
