Garmin Pay will allow Bulgaria's First Investment Bank customers to digitize their Mastercard payment cards using not only smartphones, but also Garmin watches, according to a company press release.
The new service will enable users to pay at all contactless POS terminals and perform contactless ATM transactions.
Garmin said the service is aimed at athletes, people with active lifestyles and anyone who wants to have their money available without having to carry a bag, wallet, card, or even a smartphone.
To use the service, a user needs a Garmin smartwatch that supports Garmin Pay, as well as a Mastercard debit or credit card issued by FiBank.
Consumers may register their cards through the Garmin Connect Mobile mobile application and use the virtual wallet by tapping the watch to a contactless POS or ATM.
Garmin Pay is a continuation of the partnership between Fibank and Mastercard, according to the release. Back in 2010, the two companies were the first to introduce the PayPass contactless payment technology on the Bulgarian market, and in 2016 they launched the first digital card in Bulgaria.
