Fujitsu joins IFX Forum

September 16, 2002

DALLAS -- Fujitsu Transaction Solutions has become the latest ATM manufacturer to join the Interactive Financial eXchange (IFX) Forum, a financial industry standards setting organization.

Fujitsu joins fellow ATM manufacturers Diebold, NCR and Wincor Nixdorf in the forum's ATM/POS Working Group, which focuses on developing open standards that will allow software applications to run on multiple ATM hardware platforms.

The Interactive Financial eXchange Forum was formed in 1997 to create a messaging standard for financial services that would address the challenges presented by the advent of network-based computing models. The IFX Forum membership is made up of leading financial institutions, service providers and independent software vendors who support the process of open, industry-driven standards creation. "A vendor-independent messaging standard should enable our customers to provide enhanced financial services across not only multiple vendor platforms, but multiple delivery channels as well," said Neill Collins, Fujitsu's vice president of financial systems.

According to a news release, Fujitsu was the first ATM vendor to introduce a family of ATMs based on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform, the Series 8000. The Web-enabled machines are available in off-premise, lobby, through-the-wall and drive-up models.
