SYDNEY, Australia -- Fujitsu Australia and St. George Bank have teamed up to co market and co-deliver smart card systems to Australia, according to a report by Newsbytes. The two entities plan to focus on closed markets, such as universities, stadiums and sporting clubs, citing the failure of previous broader rollouts of smart cards. Implementation of the system is not expected to occur until February 2000. However, both companies say they're ready to administer it now and that the Smart City program will be presented during Cards Australia 99 expo from September 7-9 at Sydney's Darling Harbor.
