Criminal gangs in some African and European nations might have ATM explosive attacks down to a science, but in the U.S., it seems clueless crooks are still trying to invent the wheel, so to speak.
For instance, in South Texas, a surveillance camera recently recorded an incident in which a man attached a plastic container filled with an explosive to the drive-up ATM at a bank, then retreated a safe distance to take potshots at the container with a rifle.
It must have been a very safe distance: According to a local news report, he fired at — and missed — his target at least two dozen times before giving up. A bank employee later discovered the container of explosive material still attached to the ATM.
