The online-only FI has rolled out Eyeprint ID, which lets users of the bank's mobile app log in with a click of their smartphone camera.

First Internet Bank has become one of the first financial institutions to offer Eyeprint ID authentication technology in its mobile banking app, according to a press release from the Indiana-chartered online-only FI.
Eyeprint ID technology lets customers log into their accounts using their smartphone camera and an "eyeprint" rather than a user ID and password. The camera captures an image of the eye, which Eyeprint ID compares with the eyeprint registered with the device. If the vein patterns match, Eyeprint ID automatically authenticates the user and unlocks the app.
"Eyeprint ID comes quickly after our introduction of Touch ID authentication earlier this year, which enables customers to log in with a fingerprint," said First IB President and CEO David Becker. "Biometric technology allows us to provide innovative solutions to our customers' need for secure, convenient account access."
Eyeprint ID access is available through the First Internet Bank personal banking mobile app for both iPhone and Android smartphones.
