Fold to move to the Lightning Network

Fold, a bitcoin rewards and payments app, has announced it will move completely to the Lightning Network by 2022. The network is a scalability protocol that allows off-chain transactions and low-fee micropayment processing with better security, according to a press release.
To start this process, Fold has partnered with OpenNode to allow Fold app users to withdraw their bitcoin rewards to a Lightning wallet.
"OpenNode is passionate about driving Bitcoin adoption, and with this partnership, we are excited to give Fold app users the ability to withdraw their bitcoin rewards instantly to a Lightning wallet," Joao Almeida, co-founder and CTO at OpenNode, said in the release. "As we continue on the journey towards mass adoption of Bitcoin around the world, we're proud to be working with the leading bitcoin rewards and payments app, Fold, to increase the use of the Lightning Network."
