January 2, 2001

SAN PEDRO, Calif. -- eConnect (OTC Bulletin Board: ECNC) has sent its first shipment of eCashPads to a limited number of consumers. The product is being distributed in small quantities to test the strength of its technical, product and customer service support.

The eCashPad enables Internet consumers to prevent financial card data from being seen or stored at the Web merchant's site. With the eCash Pad, instant cash ATM card with PIN Internet payments can be made between countries such as the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America, while being supported by the eConnect USA and Caribbean S.A hosts. eConnect Ireland and China hosts will follow.

Online debit support for Internet transactions involving ATM card PINs will depend on regional ATM card network trials. The tests are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2001.

Software installation programs for the eCashPad will be placed at www.econnectholdings.comin the new software downloads section. This software will support Win95/Win98 with the first release, with an update to provide support for WinME/Win2K soon after.
