May 27, 2010

First Internet Bank has announced the release of its text message banking service.

According to a press release, customers may activate the service for their phones via the bank's website. Enrolled customers text commands to a designated short code to get a real-time account balance report and updates on the account's most recent transactions. Standard text message fees apply.

"With text message banking, First Internet Bank fulfills its promise to empower its customers to manage their money more easily and make smarter financial choices," said David Becker, president and CEO of First Internet Bank. "In a matter of seconds, our customer can check her balance and know whether she has enough funds to make a debit card purchase or withdraw cash at an ATM. The speed and ease of use of text message banking will make our customers' everyday financial decisions a little easier."
