Almond Finance, a fintech company that offers a blockchain-based funds transfer infrastructure, has earned $2 million in a funding round. The company plans to use the funding to drive hiring, product development and compliance requirements, according to a press release.
Almond's platform enables interoperability between mobile wallets and payment services to allow users to send money internationally with or without a bank account. It also aims to open its first money transfer corridor in 2022 with an initial focus on Southeast Asia and North America.
The company is also aiming to get U.S.-based banks, neobanks and credit unions to join its international money transfer network so users can transact with its base in Asia.
