Eyeprint ID, the eye-based mobile biometric authentication technology from Kansas City, Missouri-based EyeVerify, has been granted certification by the Fast Identity Online Alliance, according to a company press release.
FIDO certification means that the technology has demonstrated full compliance with the FIDO 1.0 universal authentication framework standard and is interoperable with other products and services that support FIDO specifications.
Eyeprint ID transforms a selfie snapped with a smartphone or tablet into a digital key in less than a second, using the device's camera to image and pattern-match visible blood vessels and other micro features in and around the eye. The feature can be directly integrated into a device or application using the company's software development kit, the release said.
"We are excited about the opportunities that FIDO Alliance certification brings to our clients, enabling them to easily integrate standardized authentication for their consumers, which in turn saves those consumers from the painful and risky task of password management," EyeVerify EVP of Global Sales and Marketing Chris Barnett said in the release.
EyeVerify joined the FIDO Alliance in early 2015 and said in the release that its patented solution was designed with FIDO specifications in mind.
