Euronet adds more phone recharge customers, in Romania

June 3, 2002

BUCHAREST, Romania and LEAWOOD, Kan. -- Euronet Worldwide (Nasdaq: EEFT) has signed a joint agreement with MobiFon (Connex) and Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) to provide ATM recharge services for Romania's Connex prepaid airtime subscribers via the ATM network owned and operated by BCR.

According to a news release, customers of Connex's prepay service are the first users in Romania to have an electronic method for adding airtime minutes to their mobile phone accounts. Euronet ATM Recharge enables Connex to distribute airtime 24/7 at any one of 483 BCR-branded ATMs across Romania.

The agreement expands an existing mobile banking partnership between Connex, which has more than 2.1 million subscribers, and BCR, with 275 branches across the country and 3 million customers. BCR already enables Connex subscribers to access their bank accounts and receive financial messages via Euronet Mobile Banking.

In the first six months of this year, Euronet announced similar agreements with Abbey National plc and Orange in the UK and with mobile operator Centertel in Poland.
