Emirates NBD, the largest FI in the Middle East measured by assets, marked the September Eid Al-adha holiday by dispensing cash gifts, or "eidiya" from a Traveling Eidiya ATM at Dubai's Oasis Mall.
Unsuspecting ATM users were surprised with envelopes containing between 10 and 1,000 dirham ($2.72 to $272) dispensed from the specially constructed cash dispenser.
According to the bank's Facebook page, "The initiative was aimed at spreading joy and happiness throughout the festive week."
Eid Al-adha is one of two annual festivals observed by Muslims the world over.
Emirates NBD captured video of delighted customers as they received eidiya cash, and edited the footage into a music video featuring a song specially written by the popular Emirati singer and composer Fayez Al Saeed.
