Directo appoints executive VP

February 26, 2002

ATLANTA -- Former Georgia Secretary of State Lewis Massey, the recently named president and CEO of Directo, Inc., announced the appointment of James J. Segars as the start-up company's executive vice president.

Directo is a newly formed payroll services company created by banking consultant T. Stephen Johnson that matches banks and large employers to offer direct deposit services for their "unbanked" workforce. While
not a bank itself, Directo offers a debit card that allows unbanked workers to withdraw their money safely from an ATM.

Segars has over 30 years of banking experience, including stints as senior vice president and cashier to both Bank South and National Bank of Georgia. "Jim's extensive experience in bank management and organization, including his development of significant ATM, check card and other electronic programs, is crucial to our plans for rapid market expansion," Massey said.

Directo's first target audience is the growing Hispanic workforce in Georgia and Florida. With Directo's debit card, workers can transfer funds to relatives outside the U.S., while no longer needing to use costly check cashing services or small loan companies to gain access to their dollars.
