Diebold rocks RDS with ATM/jukebox hybrid

February 20, 2002

NEW ORLEANS -- Diebold, Incorporated(NYSE: DBD), is exhibiting an ATM/jukebox hybrid at this week's BAI Retail Delivery Conference. The concept terminal uses Diebold's OPTinet software to play tracks using MP3 technology and a J/XFS software standard.

The jukebox cash dispenser is a converted CashSource Plus 400 with a 3-high Provisor cash recycling module that accepts and dispenses notes in up to three separate denominations. Users can insert cash or transfer funds to play songs. From The Beatles and other classic rock bands, to Latin and Cajun zydeco music, customers can select the music they want to hear from a legal Internet music provider.

According to Diebold, the terminal features a color graphic display that can be used for advertising messages or to customize music selections to a retailer's customer base. It also saves floor space, compared to having separate ATM and jukebox set-ups. And the machine's UL 291 certified chest and Provisor cash recycling module offer a high degree of security and accountability for the contents of the safe.
