Europol, the law enforcement agency of the European Union, and Diebold Nixdorf, a provider of self-service transaction technologies, have signed a memorandum of understanding to increase the effectiveness of efforts to combat cybercrime.
Under the MOU, the signatories will share knowledge about major cyberthreats and attacks, and will exchange information related to organized crime activity involving self-service ecosystems, according to a press release.
"The signing of this memorandum of understanding will improve our capabilities and increase our effectiveness in preventing, prosecuting and disrupting cybercrime related to self-service ecosystems," Steven Wilson, head of the European Cybercrime Center, said during the signing ceremony. "As a company with a strong global presence, a working cooperation of this type between Europol and Diebold Nixdorf is the most effective way in which we can hope to secure cyberspace for European citizens and businesses.
