In a press release yesterday, Diebold Incorporated announced that it had entered into a purchase agreement for a 55-acre site for the company’s new global headquarters campus. The site lies in Green, Ohio, just five miles from the company’s current headquarters in North Canton.
Diebold plans to break ground on the site in 2013, following completion of a number of preliminary steps that include an environmental review of the land, site pre-planning, and required approvals from state and local governing bodies. Once groundbreaking occurs, the company estimates that construction of its 500,000 square-foot building will take two to three years to complete.
“This is another exciting step for Diebold in our journey to building a truly world-class presence right here in Northeast Ohio,” said Thomas W. Swidarski, Diebold president and chief executive officer. “Our preferred site in Green provides us with the characteristics we coveted in a location, as well as continuity and convenience for our associates and a first-class presentation for our customers.”
“Diebold will be a major focal point in Green’s town center,” said Dick Norton, mayor of Green. “While much work still needs to be done, we are excited to work with a great company and a team of committed partners who will help make this project a reality.”
