Deluxe Data teams with Poland's largest bank to handle all ATM transactions

June 16, 1999

RUNCORN, Cheshire, United Kingdom -- Poland's largest financial institution, Bank Pekao has signed a contract with Deluxe Data International Ltd. worth over 1.3 million pounds to use Connex EFT software to process its entire ATM and point of sale network transactions. Bank Pekao currently has a network of 550 ATMs that handle 2 million transactions monthly. This deal will have the Connex on the IBM S/390(R) enterprise server platform driving those existing networks and processing the monthly transactions. The contract will expand to include 200 additional ATMs. The contract is an effort by Bank Pekao, which owns 40 percent of this market, to maintain its marketing strategy of meeting customer demands for modern, alternative channels of distribution of banking products and services, said Przemyslaw Figarski, managing director at Bank Pekao. "Connex offers an advantageous cost per transaction and high system availability, which will enable us to meet our customers' performance expectations. The new system will be implemented as a part of a new IT system for the whole Bank during 1999 and into the year 2000," said Figarski.
