Datawest appoints CFO

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- Datawest Solutions (TSE: DS - news) has appointed Michael E. Johnson as vice chairman and chief financial officer, replacing former CFO Bruce D. Wilson.

Johnson has been a member of the Datawest Board of Directors since February 2000 and has actively consulted the company in strategic planning, corporate governance and business management and processes. Prior to joining Datawest, he was the president and chief executive officer of the Vancouver Stock Exchange. Before that, he had a 30-year career at Household Financial in which he last served as chairman, CEO and president of the Canadian group of companies.

In his role as Datawest's vice chairman and CFO, Johnson will oversee the accounting and finance functions of the company as well as the corporate secretary, human resources and marketing areas.

"I look forward to contributing to Datawest in building our people, our processes and our business," Johnson said. "As a board member, I have seen Datawest evolve from a private to a public company, expand its market reach across Canada from its traditional roots and am excited to be part of the executive team going forward."

The company's Payment Solutions Group manages Canada's largest ATM network, and develops and delivers electronic payment products and services, including ATM and POS systems and EFT transaction processing, device management and monitoring.
