Datacard, Ecobank partner on instant issue personalized prepaids

Datacard Group, a provider of secure ID and card personalization solutions, is helping Ecobank Transnational Inc., a financial services provider with operations in more than 30 African countries, to implement financial instant issuance solutions for in-branch issuance of the FI's Visa CashXpress prepaid cards.

A multipurpose prepaid card for use by not only Ecobank customers but also non-customers and the unbanked, the Visa CashXpress prepaid card can be used at ATMs, POS and other terminals around the world. With the complete Datacard instant issuance solution in place, Ecobank eliminates the typical two-week waiting period for a card and gives customers immediate purchasing power.

"Ecobank has a wide variety of customers who use the CashXpress card — including students, employees, merchants, business people and corporations," said Rick Harbey Odom Thomson, head of card operations, OPS and IT for Ecobank Centrafrique SA, in a news release. "This multi-currency payment card provides the alternative to carrying cash and is great for individuals traveling abroad or who do not have a bank account. It's very important to us to offer convenience and enhanced customer service and we’re so excited to now be able to offer it instantly to customers." 

Datacard Group worked with e-payment solutions provider A2M Technologie to implement an integrated financial instant issuance solution for Ecobank that includes the Datacard CE870 instant issuance system and CardWizard instant issuance software, as well as in-country local services and support provided by A2M Technologie.
