Customers at a BECU branch in Enumclaw, Washington, are claiming they were shortchanged by an ATM and the credit union refused to refund them. In particular, Trevor Walsh says he tried to withdraw $360 but was only given $120 and his account was charged for the full amount, according to a report by Fox 13 Seattle.
Several other customers had the same issue, and some believe that the ATM wasn't properly stocked with $100 bills. However, when they tried to contact the credit union, they claim it refused to help them.
"Monday we call, a bunch of us, and BECU just literally said 'too bad. Not our problem,'" Walsh said in the report.
On Facebook, many other residents shared stories of being shortchanged by the ATM. The credit union claims that the ATM was malfunctioning and has been taken offline.
"We are aware of the situation and I can confirm this is an isolated issue. The affected ATM has been taken out of service and those impacted are being contacted directly as part of our resolution process," the credit union said in the report.
Walsh said he is filing a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's Office over this issue.
